Miller to Substitutes:
In early
January 2008, PAT Substitutes and the PPS Board of Education
ratified a new collective bargaining agreement for substitute
teachers. That agreement became effective on January 15, 2008.
The contract is
for the term of July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2012.
The parties are
currently in the process of having the new contract printed and
distributed to every substitute teacher. Until then, you may
view a copy of the contract on this website. Changes to the
contract about which you should be aware are found in
underlined, bold type.
PLEASE READ
THE INSURANCE PROVISIONS (ARTICLE 10) CAREFULLY. NOTE A MAJOR
CHANGE: INSURANCE WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE ON A SEMESTER
BASIS. Instead, eligible substitutes will earn insurance
for an entire year. The number of days required to earn
full-year insurance has been reduced significantly (from 88 to
70) – and time in temporary positions will now count toward
substitute insurance eligibility.
